The Classification & Indexing Section has formed a new working group: IFLA Genre/Form Working Group.
Genre/Form has to do with what something “is”, rather than what it is “about“. Genre/form terms can assist the user by providing access points for the forms and genres of expressions and have proved to be useful in library catalogues . The genre/form terms are used in several cataloguing traditions, such as the German, Swedish, and Anglo-American.
The working group will monitor and provide information about developments relating to genre/form; encourage and develop
programs on genre/form to be presented at future IFLA Conferences. More information is provided at the Classification & Indexings Sections web
