Attendance Grants now available for IFLA Congress Columbus Ohio August 2016

The Academic and Research Libraries Section (ARL), with generous sponsorship by Ex Libris and Sage, is offering THREE (3) Attendance Grants for the IFLA Congress in Columbus, Ohio 2016 to an information professional from each of these regions:

  • Africa
  • Latin America
  • Asia/Pacific region

What does the Attendance Grant Cover?

Each grant covers the early registration fee of Euro 470 which expires on 17th May 2016. The Attendance Grant will also provide support for travel and/or accommodation of up to Euro 700.

Applicants must be able to attend the Congress and will be responsible for all other costs associated with Congress attendance. Please see the Conference website for further details about the Congress.

A reminder that papers are called for the satellite meeting, Data in libraries: the big picture.  Deadline for submission is 21 February 2016.

The Information Technology Section joint with Academic and Research Libraries Section, Big Data Special Interest Group and Semantic Web Special Interest Group are pleased to invite you to submit a paper for the upcoming satellite meeting, Data in libraries: the big picture.

This meeting is being held at the University of Chicago, Regenstein location on Wednesday 10 August 2016.

Call for papers – satellite conference, August 2016

The Information Technology Section joint with Academic and Research Libraries Section, Big Data Special Interest Group and Semantic Web Special Interest Group are seeking papers for the satellite conference to be held at University of Chicago, Regenstein Location, on Wednesday 10 August 2016.  Data in libraries: the big picture.  This conference will draw the “big picture” of library data, examining the full spectrum of library activities, and attempting to assess what is achievable using new data technologies in libraries.  Details are now available and submissions close 21 February 2016.

Information from the Congress in Cape Town

Presentations from our Hot Topics session are now available.  Details about session 91, What is value? that we held in conjunction with Management and Marketing SC and the E-Metrics SIG are also available.  Papers from the joint session will be made available via the IFLA repository.  If you would like to know who your Standing Committee members are, their details are also available.

WLIC 2015 – ARL’s Hot Topics program will ensure lively discussions for delegates

For those attending the Congress in Cape Town, ARL will be holding its Hot Topics session on Thursday 20 August, 8.30-10.30 in Ballroom East.

Our invited speakers will talk about a “hot topic” for five minutes or so.  Each speaker will provide a few questions to be debated and discussed by delegates attending the session.  Please put in your conference diary now!
