The 3rd Edition of The World Through Picture Books (WTPB), published in 2023 in the loving memory of Viviana Quiñones and edited by Annie Everall and Claire Stuckey, is available in the IFLA Repository at the following URL: https://repository.ifla.org/handle/123456789/3195

The book of 292 colourful and information-rich pages guides the reader through the amazing variety of 530 selected picture books, representing 57 countries and 37 languages.
Picture books are particularly important for children’s development and their cultural identity,  acting as bridge between them and the world inside and around them, the variety of languages, cultures and values, through an adult (parent, educator, children or school librarian, teacher etc.) who reads aloud with/for kids.

Since 2011 The World Through Picture Books project has aimed at creating a list of selected titles from around the world, based on the librarians’ recommendations. The programme is led by IFLA Children and Young Adults Section with support from IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People).
