Invitation to tour Ohio State University Libraries’ resource sharing operations

Thompson Library

During the 2016 IFLA WLIC in Columbus Ohio, the IFLA Document Delivery and Resource Sharing section together with The Ohio State University Libraries Circulation Services and Interlibrary Services departments are offering a presentation and behind-the-scenes tour of library resource sharing activities at Ohio State.  The presentations and tour take place on Tuesday, August 16, in room 165 of Thompson Library, the main library at The Ohio State University.

Schedule

2:00-3:00 PM : Presentation on the resource sharing environment at OSU Libraries

3:00-4:00 PM : Tour of public and staff work spaces in the OSU Thompson Library, including Circulation, ILL, and mailroom areas

4:00-5:00 PM : Presentation on the newly revised Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States

Any individuals interested in attending may join any or all of the schedule offerings as desired.  The presentations will be given by Tony Maniaci, Head of Circulation Services, and Brian Miller, Head of Interlibrary Services, from OSU Libraries.

OSU’s Thompson Library is the birthplace of the original OCLC office (Ohio College Library Center) in 1967.  Today, the OSU Libraries organization is a major participant in both OhioLINK and the Big Ten Academic Alliance, two important consortia with large resource sharing networks.  The presentations and tours will have many interesting and informative aspects to offer for those colleagues from around the world who can attend.

This invitation is open to the IFLA WLIC attendees AND colleagues around the Greater Columbus area. It will be a rare occasion to see one of the busiest resource sharing operations in the US which receives more than 200k interlibrary loan and document delivery requests per year.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Peter Bae (sbae@princeton.edu), Information Coordinator of the IFLA DDRS section. RSVP is not required but it would help organizers to plan the event if you let Peter Bae (sbae@princeton.edu) know you are coming. Thank you!
