Libraries and copyright (slight return)
For those of you don’t know about The Arts and Letters Daily, do check it out. It’s a site I’ve been visiting for about 8 years and there’s always something interesting on there. Every time there’s an update you get a new link to a recent article of note, a book review and an essay or opinion piece. Lo! Or are we sleepwalking into a monopoly over digitised information? Discuss…
Also on copyright – note that IFLA and EBLIDA has signed up to a joint statement on the sound recordings term extension. We are also currently trying to get the Library Copyright Alliance from the US on there. If you are in Brussels tomorrow by any chance, you could do far worse than popping down the Open Rights Group’s event looking at some of the issues surrounding the term extension. 10am – 12pm with details here.
