International Information Literacy Month

In October 2009, President Obama issued a proclamation recognizing the critical importance of information literacy and declared October as Information Literacy Awareness Month. One of the ways to celebrate this event is to improve your own information skills. This academic year all first-year students are reading the book Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do? and many courses are incorporating aspects of this text  through discussions involving complex moral and ethical decisions. This month is a good time to think about issues related to the use of information. As we incorporate information sources into our work, we need to make sure we do the right thing. How do we know what is the right thing to do? What guides us in our decisions?
