The 10-Minute Library Advocate #13: Wear a Pin or a Badge

The 10-Minute Library Advocate Number 13: Wear a Pin or a Badge

Advocacy is about conversations.

You need to engage decision-makers – and the people that influence them – and build their understanding of the importance of libraries. In this way, you can encourage them to take action!

But how to start that conversation? A great way to do it is to create a talking point – something that people can ask about.

So for our 13th 10-Minute Library Advocate, wear a pin or a badge about libraries!

You can wear this at work, but also outside, for example when you attend public meetings or even just in your daily life.

Perhaps your association already produces pins or badges, or you could find a way to create your own. Don’t forget to make it attractive and interesting – something that encourages questions from people you’re talking to.

You can share your pictures of your favourites on social media with the hashtag #EveryLibrarianAnAdvocate!

Good luck!
